Are you thinking of how to be confident regularly, even when you are not in the mood to feel confident?

Being confident regularly is no simple task, especially when you’re still very fresh in the system as a nurse.

The fact is nurses who are always confident, excel at what they do.

Listed below are 10 habits exhibited by confident nurses

  1. Don’t pretend but try to be yourself.

The truth is that confident nurses don’t pretend, they understand everything. Being a new nurse or being in a new nursing job can be tasking, expect it, and accept it in good faith.

Note that whatever you do — try to be yourself until you achieve it.

Meanwhile, don’t fake yourself.  There is no advantage to yourself or the patient by pretending you understand something when you don’t. It can be extremely dangerous (and unethical) to behave like you understand what you’re doing when you don’t. Be the real nurse. Don’t pretend.

  1. Act Confident

The truth is that confident nurses act confident. The point of divergence between faking it until you achieve it and acting confident is in the motive. Instead of acting like you understand something when you don’t, confidence allows you to react to a new situation with an open mind and a positive attitude

Meanwhile, being in a new work or being a new nurse entails that people will be requesting questions from you and giving you opportunities to execute new things you’ve never carried out before.

Respond with anxiety and confidence by exhibiting that you’re open to new experiences and that you’re ready to grow as a nurse and as a person.

  1. Confident nurses practice self-care

The truth is that confident nurses exhibit self-care on and off the job. Self-care in nursing is essential because if you don’t take care of yourself first, you have nothing left for patients, friends, or family. And, yes, that includes placing yourself before your kids at times.

They’ve understood to look for a balance between their personal and professional lives. They target their interests and hobbies outside of work. For the motive of their mental health, they plan their time to include activities they enjoy, surrounding themselves with positive people and quality experiences.

The confident nurses know that self-care is not an option.

  1. Stay hydrated

Without mincing words, confident nurses try to stay hydrated. They come to work with a bottle of water and they make sure they remain hydrated throughout their work. Dehydration can set in fast.

Meanwhile, some of the initial effects of dehydration are headache, hunger, fatigue, and lethargy. How can you be confident when you’re struggling with hunger and riddled with fatigue? Think enough to drink up!
