Spring Cleaning Checklist for Nurses: 5 Areas You Should Clean

Spring cleaning is essential to our lives as humans, not just as nurses. Every nurse should understand the importance of cleanliness. Engaging in spring cleaning is very helpful as it presents you with a wide array of benefits.

There are several areas of our homes and offices that we neglect when carrying out cleaning operations. During spring cleaning, we must ensure that we clean out these areas. This post will show you five areas you should clean.

Spring Cleaning Explained

Before we look at areas you should clean, let’s first explain the phrase, “spring cleaning.” In simple terms, it is a thorough cleaning of your space. The space could be a room, office space, or your home. This type of cleaning requires you to touch areas that you would avoid when carrying out your regular cleaning.

To engage in spring cleaning refers to cleaning your space from top to bottom. As such, you will focus on the ceilings, floors, and everything in between. It also includes decluttering your space and getting rid of items that you don’t need.

Five Areas You Should Clean

It is not strange to hear people ask what and where they should be cleaning when engaging in spring cleaning. If you have the same question on your mind, here are a few suggestions that you should consider:

Refrigerator

Clean your refrigerator properly

One part of our homes that we scarcely clean is the refrigerator. Even when we get to clean it, we do so in hurry. As such, the refrigerator may have stains from food spills and drink splashes. Scrub the surfaces in your refrigerator with a clean cloth and some soapy water. After this, you can clean up with a clean cloth and some clean water. Don’t forget to take out expired food as well.

Under your furniture

We scarcely forget to sweep and mop our rooms. However, we mostly neglect to lift heavy pieces of furniture. During spring cleaning, you should clean under your bed and other heavy pieces of furniture. Sweep and mop under these areas. Also, take out any unnecessary items that you find in such areas.

Electrical fixtures

Every home and office has a number of electrical fixtures that we hardly ever clean. Examples include light switches, ceiling fans, and so on. Take some time out to clean these fixtures thoroughly and you will see them sparkling again.

Stove, oven, and other appliances

When engaging in spring cleaning, you shouldn’t forget to clean your stove and oven. Even if you don’t use these appliances too often because of the nature of your job, you should still clean them. Cleaning them doesn’t just help you to stay healthy, it also helps to ensure that they stay in great condition.

Rugs and upholstery

Last, but not least, on our list are rugs and upholstery pieces. Ensure that you wash your rug and curtains. You can contract the washing of your rug to a professional if you cannot do it by yourself. If your curtains need changing and you can afford to, replace them.

Conclusion

Engaging in spring cleaning presents you with great health and personal benefits. This post has shown you five areas you should clean. Do you have any other suggestions?
