Aside from being licensed as a registered nurse, you may also need a professional certification from the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators to work in this field.

In the United States, you can find psychiatric nurses in a variety of different settings like prisons, schools, psychiatric hospitals, and outpatient mental health clinics. In these places, they are usually responsible for providing mental health treatments, counseling, educating patients and their families about medications, and monitoring the patient's progress.
